Taken as a whole, I would say that poverty is the single most pressing problem found in Latin America or South America. Brazil is a good example to support my opinion. It is a huge country which is rich in natural resources but also a country with much poverty. The poorest people of Brazil live in the urban favelas or the rural northeast. Most of the parents in these areas cannot feed or house their children, much less provide them with schooling. It is almost normal for a hungry, homeless child to live dangerously on the streets, seeking menial jobs or begging ofr coins with which to buy food.

The main contribution to poverty are the poor conditions in agriculture. Even though the agriculture industry of Brazil is very profitable, only a few of the wealthy families own the large plantations. Most of the small farmers live in the inhospitable region of the sertao, which suffers from poor soil, scarce grazing lands, and uncertain rainfall. Only a handful of the farmers here can afford the farm machines that could help boost productivity.
In conclusion, most of the people of South America are very poor, wheareas the wealthy constitue only a tiny percentage of the total population.

These include millions of farmers who have little or no land, and laborers who earn low wages on plantations or in factories.
I didn't know how to do the second party (find solutions) so my teacher said I can ask 2-3 other people what they think could be a solution to poverty, and then write a combined answer for that.

Some solutions include micro-loans for small business, direct payment to those who live in fragile environments, agricultural advice for increasing yields.
As socialistic as it is, Land redistribution is appropriate in a few countries.
Corruption is a major problem in itself in most Central and South American countries. No free press to expose it at all, so basically the only solution is revolution, as has been in the past. But in the past, it just changed the names in governments, not the practices themselves.
