A Boy’s Dream

A. Gautam

Every show I watch on TV
Lacks someone who looks like me
I am a bionic boy who paints
With my robot arm
5 I have wavy hair
I’m painted with freckles
Where’s a program with a hero
Who has my kind of charm?
I didn’t grow up like the kid next door
10 But I had my family to catch
Me when I fell
To help me rise up from the floor
Perhaps my difference is hard to take
But I am also just a boy
15 Who likes sweet things
And has a favorite old toy
Where is a boy who fails but tries
has friends and dreams and a fancy arm?
Where is someone like me?

20 I’m just a boy seeking belonging
I’m just a boy with a simple longing
