Dependent variable definition

1 answer

A dependent variable is a variable in an experiment or study that is being tested or measured. It is the outcome that researchers are interested in explaining or predicting, and its value depends on changes to the independent variable(s). In other words, the dependent variable is affected by the manipulation of the independent variable. For example, in a study examining the effect of temperature on the growth of plants, the growth of the plants would be the dependent variable, while temperature would be the independent variable.
