We will be doing reading at home and on campus
This will be checked everyday you are on campus.
Prompts will be posted in Google Classroom for students to complete at home.
At the start of class, students will take out their Journal Entries and I will come by and check each one during the warm-up stage of class.
Each week students are required to read for a total of 120 minutes EACH WEEK. (this does not include assigned classwork)
2. Students will, after finding an appropriate book, read for 20-30 minutes. Once you do the reading, I want to make the first journal entry easy; so you will need to Summarize what you read on your first Journal Entry titled "Journal Entry #1"
You will write this in your ELA notebook.
Please bring your book and Journal to class every day

Sure! A great book for 7th graders that often captures interest is "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio. Here's how you could summarize your reading for the first journal entry titled "Journal Entry #1".

Journal Entry #1

In the first few chapters of "Wonder," we are introduced to August Pullman, a 10-year-old boy with a facial difference that makes him stand out from other kids. August has been homeschooled because of his medical condition, but he is about to start attending a mainstream school for the first time. The story is told from multiple perspectives, including August's, his sister Via, and several of his new classmates.

As August prepares for his first day, he feels nervous but hopeful. He loves video games and is just like any other kid; he just wants to be accepted and make friends. We see his family’s support, especially from his mom and dad, who encourage him to be brave. The initial chapters set the stage for themes of kindness, acceptance, and the challenges of being different.

I am excited to see how August navigates school and what friendships he will make!

Make sure to personalize your entry based on your actual reading, and don't forget to bring your book and journal to class every day! Happy reading!
