Two children on racing bikes start from the same refrence point. child A travels 5.0 meters per second right and child B travels 4.5 meters per second right.

Technically, you cannot tell. You have to add the assumption that they both also started at the same time in order to get an answer.
First, use the equation d = r * t for both to determine the distance each traveled.
Child a: d = r * t = 5.0 meters per second * 5 seconds = 25 meters
Child b: d = r * t = 4.5 meters per second * 5 seconds = 22.5 meters
2) Now just figure out how much farther the first child went than the second child
