Who founded Georgia?

Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe in 1733. Oglethorpe, a British general and social reformer, established the colony as a place for debtors and the poor of England to have a fresh start, as well as to serve as a buffer against Spanish Florida. The colony was named after King George II of Great Britain.
