Section 7 of the 1996 Constitution of the Republic of South Africa states that the national flag of the Republic of South Africa is black, gold, green, white, red, blue and that it is made up of two horizontal bands of equal width (black) with a central band (red) which is one-third the width of each of the horizontal bands.
