    You need to get the unknown on one side of the equation and the known on the other side.
15 = r-1
Add 1 to both sides of the equation.
15 + 1 = r -1 + 1
16 = r

    Thank you Ms. Sue for the explanation. I'm sorry, I accidentally wrote -1 instead of -6. It was supposed to be 15 = r-6.
