Find a conversation between characters that shows two points of view. Explain who is
speaking. Tell how the points of view are different. Tell why each character might have
the point of view he or she has.
Remember, a point of view is a character’s interpretation of a situation and why
they feel like they do about it.

In the bustling town square, two friends, Anna and Sarah, were discussing the ongoing debate about whether or not to build a new shopping mall in their community.

Anna, who worked at a struggling small boutique in town, argued passionately in favor of the new mall. "I think building the mall would bring in more customers and businesses to our town. It could revitalize our economy and provide more job opportunities for people like me," she explained.

Sarah, on the other hand, worked as a farmer outside of town and had a different viewpoint. "I understand your perspective, Anna, but I worry about the environmental impact of constructing a new mall. It could harm local wildlife habitats and increase traffic congestion in our already crowded town," she countered.

Anna's point of view was influenced by her personal struggles with a dwindling customer base at her boutique and the hope for economic growth. Sarah, on the other hand, was concerned about the long-term consequences of urban development on the natural landscape and wildlife that she deeply cared about. Both friends had valid arguments, but their differing experiences and priorities shaped their perspectives on the issue.
