Maintain communication skills (listening, eyecontact, veracity, etc)
"Let not thy Good be Evil spoken of" is a sermon I gave years ago. It means stay away from things that folks can run their mouth about pointing out the evil in you. Avoid company, and situations that lead to trouble.
Maintain a network of friends. Do Good to them.
Accept responsibility for community projects...community meaning group...don't leave it to others to do.
When you do something, put your best into it. Make this be your reputation. In the long run, folks remember that.
Admit your shortcomings publicly, and accept responsibility for things that go badly.
