Why do women make good leaders?

A. Gautam

Even in 2020, there are too few women in leadership positions. There are many stereotypes and biases that girls and women of all ages face, especially as leaders.

According to the Huffington Post, in 2019, only 23 Fortune 500 Companies had female leaders. It is important to overcome the biases and to accept that females have some qualities that distinguish them from males. There are many reasons why women make great leaders.

Family and work
Amy Killoran, a creative manager, claimed women balance their work and personal leadership skills well. Therefore, it is easier to approach a woman leader with a request that may be personal or sensitive. Because women value relationships, they understand what motivates people and how different people can contribute differently.

Listen and nurture
Leadership coach and author Jo Hausman claims that women make good leaders because they take the time to listen and do not react right away. Women are more empathetic, and they give people chances. The nurturing nature of women also shows in the ways they help their team prosper and grow.

Multitasking and crisis
Because women are natural multitaskers, they can handle many tasks and problems at once at work. This great skill makes women good leaders. Also, women are trained caretakers and equipped to deal with crisis, as they do it regularly at home. This experience and training keep women cool under pressure and crisis.

Endurance
Women make great leaders because they are used to obstacles. Since the society doesn’t expect women to lead, women defy the odds, fight the battles, and emerge on top. They do not give up easily.

If you are a female who wants to lead, give it your best. If you are a male, support your female friends and relatives by encouraging them to lead.
