Coefficient: The number part of a term in an equation, often found in front of a variable. For example, in the term 3x, the coefficient is 3.
1) 8,266 rounded to the nearest tenths is 8,270.
2) 78,110 rounded to the nearest hundred is 78,100.
3) 902,555 rounded to the nearest thousand is 903,000.
4) The population of Los Angeles, 3,971,883, can be estimated as 4 x 10^6.
5) 100,000 in exponential notation with a base of 10 is 10^5.
