3+(2x/x+4) divide x/x+4

please simplify the complex fraction thank you show work

2 answers

2 x / x = 2

x / x = 1

[ 3 + ( 2 x / x + 4 ) ] / ( x / x + 4 )=

( 3 + 2 + 4 ) / ( 1 + 4 ) = 9 / 5
Or, assuming the usual carelessness with parentheses,

(3+(2x/(x+4))) / (x/(x+4))
(3(x+4)+2x)/(x+4) / (x/(x+4))
(3x+12+2x)/x
(5x+12)/x
5 + 12/x

Or even

(3+2x)/(x+4) / x/(x+4)
(3+2x)/x

Or,

3 + (2x/(x+4)) / (x/(x+4))
3 + 2x/x
3+2
5
