2x+3(x-2)^2

Is there a question in there somewhere?
You could think of it as a shifted parabola, where

2x+3(x-2)^2 = 3(x-2)^2 + 2(x-2) + 4
I think it is kinda like 1x-36. I am not sure though
How could a quadratic be anything like a linear function?
