If I went to a store and spent $16 more than half the money I had in my pocket and was left with $16 in my pocket how much did i have when I went into the store? I'm thinkng $64 but not positive

If you went in with 64, you would have spent 32 + 16, which is 48, and you would have had 16 left. So 64 is the correct answer.

x - (x/2 + 16) = 16
x/2 -16 = 16
x/2 = 32
x = 64
