Explain what is meant when we say that the colors in paint are due to the subtractive process.

color pigments absorb colors, and reflect what we see. For instance, grass is green because all colors are absorbed, except green.
So color pigments subtract what they absorb. If I put a yellow light on grass, it appears black (no reflected light).
