If there are as many men as women, then there would be 1250/2=625 each.
If 30 more women than men attend the college, you would "take out" 15 men and replace them with women to make 625+15=640 women.

Using algebra:
Let w=number of women
number of men = 1250-w
If women outnumber men by 30 then
w-(1250-w) = 30
2w = 1250+30
2w = 1280
w = 640
There are 640 women on campus.
