what is shakespeare saying about love in this quote"I wish my father looked but with my eyes"-- i get that it means that everyone has their own perspective on how they see one another but is there any other idea?

What play, act, and scene is this from?

Out of context, it's almost impossible to tell.
How about taking "but with my eyes" to mean "the way I see them" (Lysander & Demetrius).
Oops.
A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Act 1, scene 1 (Hermia)
Considering the context -- I,i of A Midsummer's Night's Dream, you're right. Hermia wishes her father would look upon the man she wants to marry with her eyes and appreciate him as she does.
