One interesting one that I can think of involves the spliting of two religions, look into the biblical anticdote of the twins Issac and Ishmal (which became the leaders and forefathers of Isreal (jews) and the Iraq/Afganistan area (Islamic). Because both brothers believed they had claim to the birthright, a bloddy land war eventual broke out and has been going off and on since. I advise asking a local Christian, Jewish, or Islamic leader about it. Maybe all three, to get different sides.
