2x²-5x+2=0
which can be factored. See if you can factor and hence solve the equation. If not, you can use the quadratic formula with the same results.

The second one can be solved as:
1/x = 1/8 - 1/12
work out the difference of the two fractions, and take the denominator of the result as the value of x.
