As a kid, I would draw the graph of the equations y = x + 3 and -4x + 4y = 28 on my paper.
The graph of y = x + 3 is a straight line that goes through the y-axis at point (0,3) and has a slope of 1, meaning it goes up one unit for every one unit to the right.
The graph of -4x + 4y = 28 can be rewritten as y = x + 7, which has a y-intercept at (0,7) and also has a slope of 1.
When graphing both of these equations, I would see that the lines are parallel and will never intersect. This tells me that there is no solution to the system of linear equations, as the lines will never cross and have no common point of intersection.
