What is liverwurst? I came upon the word in the book 'A Wrinkle In Time'. Charles Wallace makes a sandwich of it, but I don't know what it is...

A type of sausage, in a way. It spreads like a paste, though, or you can slice it like pepperoni or any other type of sausage.
