1. Determine the number of 1/4 foot segments in a 5-foot row:
5 feet = 5 * 4 = 20 1/4 foot segments
2. Add the seeds planted at the beginning and end of the row:
1 seed at the beginning + 1 seed at the end = 2 seeds
3. Determine the number of seeds planted every 1/4 foot along the row:
20 1/4 foot segments * 1 seed per segment = 20 seeds
4. Add the seeds planted at the beginning and end of the row to the seeds planted every 1/4 foot along the row:
2 seeds + 20 seeds = 22 seeds
Kyle planted 22 seeds in the row.
