In the video, Russian leader Vladimir Putin's plan was to annex Crimea, a region of Ukraine, under the pretext of protecting Russian citizens there. He sent Russian troops into Crimea and held a referendum that resulted in Crimea voting to join Russia. The United States responded with condemnation and imposed economic sanctions on Russia in order to pressure them to withdraw from Crimea. Additionally, the United States and its allies supported Ukraine by providing economic aid and military assistance to help defend against further Russian aggression.
