They probably want you to factor it.
a^4 - ab^3 = = a(a^3 - b^3)
= a (a-b)(a^2 +ab + b^2)
a^4 - ab^3 = = a(a^3 - b^3)
= a (a-b)(a^2 +ab + b^2)
