can some one remind me how to do the multiplication of 3(1/2) times 5(4/7.

3 1/2 = 7/2
5 4/7 = 39/7

Multiply the numerators together and multiply the denominators together.

7/2 * 39/7 = 273/14 = 19 1/2

ok how about doing it with cross multiplication. this is how im being shown...

3(1/2) x 5(4/7)
(7/2) x (39/7) using cross multiplication
78/49 and getting 9 (1/14)
i don't understand how she is getting 9(1/14)
