Diffraction
1 answer
Diffraction is a phenomenon in physics where waves such as light, sound, or water waves spread out and change direction when they encounter an obstacle or pass through a narrow slit. This bending of waves around obstacles or through small openings results in the spreading of the wave pattern, causing interference patterns to occur. Diffraction is commonly observed in everyday life, such as when light passes through a prism, creating a spectrum of colors, or when sound bends around corners, allowing us to hear sounds even when they are not directly in our line of sight.
