What was the relationship between the rise of capitalism and the temperance movement?

I have read and read online and in books and still not sure of the answer.

With the rise of capitalism, taverns, breweries, and distillers began to aggressively promote their products and lure in new customers to increase their profits. Those supporting the temperance movement saw a big increase in drinkers and drunkenness, and fought all alchol consumption.
