What is a polar body
1 answer
A polar body is a small, non-functional cell that is produced during the process of oogenesis in females. It is created when an oocyte undergoes meiosis and divides into a larger, haploid egg cell and one or more smaller polar bodies. The polar bodies contain a minimal amount of cytoplasm and eventually degenerate and are reabsorbed by the body. Their main function is to discard excess genetic material during the formation of eggs.
