Question

find lowest common multiple of 24,15,44=1 or none

Answers

Ms. Sue
There's always a common multiple. One way to do this is to find the multiples of the largest number and find the smallest number that the others will go into.

44, 88, 132, 176, 220, and so on

If that doesn't work, multiply 24 * 15 * 44.

so would it be 360

15 ad 24 go into 360 evenly. Does 44?
celia
no would it then be 15840

You can also do it by getting the prime factors of each:

15 -> 3, 5

24 -> 2, 2, 2, 3

44 -> 2, 2, 11

Now, your LCM must contain all the numbers from any one of those lines.

Start by selecting any line, say 15:

3, 5

Now add anything else yu need from 24:

2, 2, 2, 3, but we don't need the 3, because we have one, so now we're at:

3, 5, 2, 2, 2

44 -> 2, 2, 11, but we already have two 2s in our list, so all we have to add is the 11:

3, 5, 2, 2, 2, 11

We usually rewrite this low to high, like

2, 2, 2, 3, 5, 11

So multiplying those will give your your LCM.
