Why use Scientific Notation?
1 answer
Scientific notation is used in order to express very large or very small numbers in a more concise and manageable way. It allows for easier comparison and calculation of numbers that differ by many orders of magnitude. For example, instead of writing out a number like 6,000,000, scientific notation allows us to write it as 6 x 10^6, which is much easier to work with and understand. Additionally, scientific notation is commonly used in science and engineering fields where dealing with very large or very small numbers is common.
