Your question asks "how many lines?" yet your possible answers are "couples." That doesn't make any sense.

For 2 couples = 1 lines
For 3 '' = 3 lines
For 4 " = 6 lines
For 5 " = 9 lines

so for 12 suites would the answer be = 30 connecting lines?
