In reaching her destination, a backpacker walks with an average velocity of 1.26 m/s, due west. This average velocity results because she hikes for 6.44 km with an average velocity of 2.60 m/s, due west, turns around, and hikes with an average velocity of 0.470 m/s, due east. How far east did she walk?

Let x be the distance she walked due East.
Then
Total displacement, D = 6.44-x
Total time, T = 6.44/2.6 + x/0.47
D = 1.26*T
Solve for x. I get about 0.9 km.
