How do you write linear equalities for a shaded region on a graph?

Find the inequalities that represent one of the boundaries of the shaded region. Test a point against the inequality to see if the inequality is valid. Repeat for all the boundaries of the shaded region.

It is much easier if you post a concrete example, but try it anyway without.
