MgO is a solid at room temperature.
I don't know what the second equation could be unless it is the conversion of Mg to Mg3N2, then add water to convert any Mg3N2 to MgO.
3Mg + N2 ==> Mg3N2
Mg3N2 + H2O ==> 3Mg(OH)2 + 2NH3
Mg(OH)2 + heat ==> MgO + H2O
Write the two chemical equations that describe the conversion of magnesium into magnesium oxide.
2Mg(s)+O2(g)->2MgO(s?)
First off, would MgO be a solid or gas?
And I have no idea what the 2nd equation could be.. Can anyone give me a hint?
