develop a hypothesis that could explain why some French farmers were relatively well-off while others were very poor. A hypothesis is a proposed answer, based on actual evidence,to a question.

I assume you're referring to French Revolution times.

What evidence do you have that some French farmers were relatively well off?

Answered by sara
well, some farmers lived around Paris Basin which had good fertile land, and grew many agricultural products.
Answered by Ms. Sue
Probably the rich farmers were those who had inherited large pieces of land. Most of the farmers did not own land, but worked on the farms of others.

Check these sites for more documentation about the farmers.

What do YOU think would be a good hypothesis?

Answered by sara
If the farmers lived in a region around paris then they would have rich agricultural products.

Please add to it

I don't think so. Other places in France also had rich agricultural land.
