In 3-4 sentences, explain how gravity causes Earth's tides.(4 points)

1 answer

Gravity causes Earth's tides through the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun. The moon's gravitational force is stronger on the side of Earth that is closest to it, causing a tidal bulge. Meanwhile, the opposite side of Earth also experiences a tidal bulge due to the centrifugal force created by the Earth-Moon system's rotation. This results in a high tide on both sides of Earth and low tides in between.
