You have to divide both sides by 4 to isolate y, then the slop will be the coefficient of x.

I didn't notice until now, but oyu moved the terms wrong.
original:
x+4y=8
-> 4y = -x + 8
Divide each side by 4 to isolate y:
y = -(1/4)x + 2
In the form y = mx + b (y-intercept form), m is the slop. So slope = -1/4.
