                2p+7p=54 It says to combine like terms and solve the equations but i don't know how to. Please help?

    2p and 7p are like terms because they both have the same variable, p. It does not matter that they are different coefficients. You combine and solve like this:
2p + 7p = 54
9p = 54 (divide both sides by 9 to isolate the p)
p = 6
