I really need someone to explain how to change a decimal to a fraction and vice versa.

for example how would i change 2.60 or .653 in to a fraction?

2.60 = 2 and 60/100 = 2 6/10 = 2 3/5

0.653 = 653/1000

okay, so if you take 2.60, which you can shorten to 2.6, see what place the last decimal goes to, in this case it's 6 which goes to the tenths place. So, try reading the fraction and you would say "two and six tenths" Look! You just gave yourself the answer! 2 6/10! just simplify it now, 2 6/10 / 2/2 which would be 2 3/5 which is in lowest terms. So your final answer is 2 3/5

Now try it with .653
Let me know if this makes sense

Certainly! I'd be happy to explain how to convert decimals to fractions and vice versa.

To convert a decimal to a fraction:

Step 1: Determine the place value of the rightmost digit after the decimal point. For example, in 2.60, the rightmost digit after the decimal point is in the hundredth place.

Step 2: Write the decimal as a fraction with the place value as the denominator. In 2.60, the hundredth place is represented by the denominator 100. So, 2.60 can be written as 2.60/100.

Step 3: Simplify the fraction if necessary. In this case, since both the numerator and denominator can be divided by 10, simplify it to 26/10.

Step 4: If possible, reduce the fraction to its simplest form. In this case, it can be further reduced to 13/5.

Therefore, 2.60 is equal to 13/5 as a simplified fraction.

To convert a fraction to a decimal:

Method 1: Divide the numerator by the denominator using long division. For example, to convert 13/5 to a decimal, divide 13 by 5 to get the result of 2.6.

Method 2: Use a calculator. Divide the numerator by the denominator to get the decimal equivalent. In this case, 13 divided by 5 equals 2.6.

To convert the decimal .653 to a fraction:

Step 1: Count the number of decimal places. In .653, there are three decimal places.

Step 2: Write the decimal as a fraction with the denominator as a power of 10. In .653, we have three decimal places, so the denominator should be 1000 (10 raised to the power of 3).

Step 3: Simplify the fraction if possible. In this case, .653/1000 cannot be simplified further.

Therefore, .653 is equal to 653/1000 as a fraction.

I hope this explanation helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
