Show that if the equation of the line can be written as x/a + y/b = 1, then the line intersects the x-axis at (a, 0) and the y- axis at (0,b).

Set x = 0 and solve for y.
(0/a)+ (y/b) = 1
so y = b for the point (0,b)

Set y = 0 and solve for x.
(x/a) + (0/b) = 1
x= a for the point (a,0)
