School pride and support of athletic and academic teams are the first traditions in most schools. Teachers who've taught in the school for a long time also tend to become traditions.

In a community, businesses that have been there for many years are also considered traditions. I enjoy shopping at fresh fruit and vegetable stand that I shopped at for over 40 years. Our city also has a historic downtown park that is valued as an important tradition.

thanks, I am not so sure about this but could there be a teachers day just to show how much we respect them and care for them.

That's a good idea. I love it! :-)

I just thought of another tradition at the middle school where I taught. One day each spring we celebrated Earth Day by all of us going into the neighborhood to rake and clean up the yards of senior citizens.

Oops! I guess Earth Day is in the fall.
