it's multiply so...

(p<sup>x</sup>)<sup>y</sup>

so p<sup>x+y</sup>

I don't believe so.
(p<sup>x</sup>)<sup>y</sup> = p<sup>xy</sup>.

Try it.
(3<sup>2</sup>)<sup>3</sup> =
(9<sup>3</sup> = 729 OR
3<sup>6</sup> = 729

The rule as written is correct but that isn't the problem. )
