If the graph of y=-4x+5 is shown, what would the value of y be when x = 1??
and the value of x when y = -3??

If you plug in 1 in place of x, you get
y = -4 + 5. You know what that equals.

If y = -3,
-3 = -4x + 5, so -4x = -8 and x = 2
