what does it mean to state the solution in the problem if the equation is 2x^2-3x-4=0
(2x squared) and the graph is 2x^2-3x-4???
Can someone explain this to me?

The solutions are where the graph of the equation crosses the x axis (where y = 0).

The solutions occur at
x = (1/4)(3 +/- sqrt 41)
= 2.3508 and -0.8508
