Health care expenses drive up the cost for consumers and leave them less money to spend on other goods.
Government-sponsored health care lowers costs because it doesn't make a profit while private insurance companies and hospitals do make a profit. The economic disadvantages is that when people can get low-cost government insurance, private insurers are driven out of business.
One way of lowering health care costs is to pay for overall health and not pay for duplicate tests and services.
