The indefinite integral is
x^(1/2)/(1/2) = 2 x*^(1/2)
Evaluate that at x=0 and subtract the value ax x=1.
That equals -2. The integral from 0 to 1 is +2. The integral remains finite in spite of the infinite value of the integrand at x=0.
