Example:
235U
92
235.over.92U + 1.over.n ---> 90.over.38Sr + 3 1.over.n + ??

235/92U + 1/n ---> 90/38Sr + 3 1/n + ? in an easier format
Make the subscripts add to the same number on both side and make the superscripts add to the same number on both sides.
235/92U + 1/o n ==> 90/38Sr + 3 1/o n + X
So the subscripts on the left adds to 92+0 = 92.
On the right we have 38 + 0 + ?? = 92. That must 92-38 = 54. If I've interpreted your question properly, then we look on the periodic table and find element #54. That is Xe so we can place Xe in place of the unknown X. For the superscripts, we have
235 + 1 on the left.
On the right we have 90 + 3 + ?? = 236 so ?? must be 143.
I'm not sure what your 31.over n means but I think you will get the idea from this.

It is 3 and 1/n
That worked! Thank you so much!!
