It ignores the possibility of <I>compromise</I>, in which various aspects (usually less important) are sacrificed so that more important aspects might be achieved. In compromise nobody gets "all," but also everyone gets something — in contrast to "nothing."
In contrast, "all or nothing" is more likely to lead to conflict and war.
