In the numerator, you can factor out -2 to get -2(x+4)

In the denominator, you can factor x^2 + 2x - 8 into (x+4)(x-2)

Now you have -2(x+4) / ((x+4)(x-2))

(x+4) cancels out, leaving you with -2/(x-2)
